Yesenia Diaz chose to attend Ohio Valley College of Technology because she could earn her Associate Degree in Medical Assisting in just 18 months and she heard that OVCT was a great place to attend school.
“I decided on the Medical Assisting program because I love helping people,” she explained. “When I see a patient, I want to make them happy.”
The instructors and hands-on experience were a definite perk to attending OVCT.
Now that she has completed school and graduated, she is a full-time Medical Assistant for a local Ankle and Foot Clinic and is also a full-time Mother to a beautiful little girl.
If she could give advice to students, it would be to never give up. “No matter what life throws at you, just know that you can do it as long as you put your heart and mind to it,” she said.
Yesenia would like to thank Kristen Scott, who she highlighted as one of the best instructors at OVCT. She said, “She pushed me and gave me faith that I could do it even on my worst days. There were days I wanted to quit and she was there to talk to me and tell me what I had going for me.”
With her daughter as her biggest supporter, Yesenia knew that this journey led to better things. She also says her mom has helped support her and pushed her until she finished school and landed her career.
