I chose Ohio Valley College of Technology because I heard a lot of great things about the college from people who attended and graduated from OVCT. I also liked that it was fast paced programs, small class sizes, and you get a lot of one-on-one time with all your professors. My main reason for choosing OVCT was the hands-on part. I learn better when I am able to actually do something hands-on.
- Why did you choose Medical Assisting?
I chose the Medical Assisting program because I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field and help people since I was young. I can always go back to school for the RN program and anything else I would like to pursue.
- What was your favorite part of attending OVCT?
HANDS-ON LEARNING! I can’t stress enough how much easier it was for me to be able to perform blood draws and injections on actual people rather than just watching someone do it or explain it to me. The clinical classes were amazing and I learned so much from Mrs. Scott during my time there.
- What are you doing now?
I am actually employed at 2nd Chances CM, LLC Behavioral/Addiction Treatment Clinic on St. Clair Ave in East Liverpool. I was hired two days before graduation. I am very thankful for everything Mrs. Martin did for me in career prep to help me achieve my goal of getting this job.
- What advice do you have for new students?
My advice to new students would be to pay attention to everything your instructors say and keep all the handouts they give you. It’s fast paced learning but if you just pay attention there’s no reason you should have a hard time getting through whatever program you choose.
- Do you have anyone you would like to thank?
I want to give a big thanks to Mrs. Scott! She helped me through a lot, not just in school but she also helped me during some hard times in my life and was always there to talk. All the instructors are there for you no matter what you need to talk about. She was a huge support during my entire time at OVCT. I also want to thank all the OVCT instructors and administration. They are all there to guide you and help you with whatever you need. They are all on your side and want nothing more than for you to succeed and graduate.
- Who was your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporters were definitely my parents. They have stuck by my side through everything, and no matter what happened they have always encouraged me and never gave up on me.
