Jessica Bentley enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at Ohio Valley College of Technology in May of 2014. Jessica tried other colleges prior to OVCT but noticed that with a larger campus, teachers and staff didn’t really care about the students. Jessica says at OVCT, “They don’t just throw students into a classroom and say ‘GO!’” The staff and instructors really care about the success of their students.
Bentley has always been interested in “anything medical” and she enjoys helping people. These were the reasons she choose to become a Medical Assistant. So far, her favorite parts of being a medical assisting student are her clinical classes and the opportunity to participate in Student Government.
This past year, Jessica has been involved in multiple events and fundraisers that the Student Government has coordinated. They recently hosted a Pie Day event where students threw a pie in the faces of the Academic Dean, Career Management Director, Academic Advisor, and an instructor. The event was a huge success and rumor around campus is…it will become an end of semester tradition.
Throughout her education, Jessica Bentley’s biggest supporter is her mother. “Since we go to school together we push each other to get through homework and tests.”
Jessica would like to thank her other family and friends for also offering her support. However, a special thank you goes to Donna Juszczak. “She actually came out to the parking lot in the rain and got me out of the car because I wasn’t going to come to school at first. If she had not have done that I wouldn’t be here,” says Jessica.
Ohio Valley College of Technology would like to thank Jessica Bentley for the many contributions she has made to OVCT Student Government and we wish her the best of luck in her career!
