I chose to come to Ohio Valley College of Technology because I liked what the school had to offer. I liked the feel of a smaller school because you don’t just get lost in the crowd. I consider myself a very reserved person. I don’t see anything extraordinary about myself, but I knew the school was going to help me meet the challenges I would face after being out of school for so long. I wanted a good education and knew the first day I met with Donna that OVCT was where I wanted to continue my education. The school has lived up to everything it stands for!
Why did you choose the Medical Assisting program?
I think the Medical Assisting Program will offer a rewarding career and open many job opportunities. I won’t just be limited to one or two jobs in the profession. I have always had an interest in the medical field and thought this would be a great place to start. I look forward to all that I’m going to learn in my classes to get me started on my path to my new career.
What’s your favorite part of attending OVCT so far?
So far, my favorite part of school so has been how helpful the professors are. The unknown can be a little scary, but I felt welcomed. And when the professors say they are here to help you succeed they really mean it. They are always willing to put in as much time as possible to make sure you have everything you need. If you don’t understand something, and you are willing to put forth the effort, they are right here to help with anything you need.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporters have been my family and friends. Especially my daughters who remind me all the time how proud they are of me. Even when I doubted myself, along with my friends, they reminded me that they believed in me and that I could do this. I am very lucky to have so many people wanting me to succeed!
Do you have anyone you want to thank?
I would like to thank my professors and my family and friends. Especially Mrs. Bloor and Mr. Ream. Mrs. Bloor has a way of relating to the students to keep class very interesting. You can really feel her enthusiasm as she teaches and you can tell she really loves what she does. I believe if a teacher can be excited about teaching it makes the students excited about learning. Mr. Ream always has an encouraging word to help you remember everything you are working for and that the payoff will be worth it. He knows how to keep things lighthearted and when you’re in his class it’s such a relaxed atmosphere. I had a lot to learn about computers and he never ran out of patience with me. I feel like I have already learned so much and look forward to continuing my education. One thing they have both taught me is that you can only go as far as your attitude will let you.
So, to Mrs. Bloor and Mr. Ream “Thank You” for doing what you do.
