Ohio Valley College of Technology’s Student Government promotes the needs and interests of the campus, community and its students. Students from every program work together and collaborate with members of the staff and community to raise funds for local agencies or charities.
Ambassadors from each program are present at orientations to welcome new students and assist them with questions and concerns. SGA officials attend graduation and host a complimentary dinner for graduates.
Student Government sponsors many community events such as: a Community Flea Market in the summer to raise money for the Columbiana County Humane Society, Splash Down at Thomson Park in August, and free photos with Santa Claus in December.
For students, Student Government is important because it teaches professionalism, networking, parliamentary procedures and teamwork. Students have the opportunity to work with local businesses and help give back to the community. Members of Student Government build relationships between students, faculty and staff, and local businesses and organizations.
Student Government is open to all students. If you are interested in being a member of OVCT’s Student Government, please contact your Academic Dean Mrs. Brock-Murphy or ask a current Student Government member.
