CALCUTTA – The Ohio Valley College of Technology has partnered with a local business to bring business clothing to the school with the goal of helping soon-to-be graduates prepare for the next step in finding their career.
Dashing Divas Consignment – a local online consignment business, based in Lisbon, Ohio – agreed to bring in business style clothing to sell at an inexpensive price to any OVCT student. The decision to partner up was an easy one as two of the three founding members are current students at the campus. Brook Faulk and Shalynn Vecchio began their online venture nearly a year ago at about the same time they entered the Business Administration program. Amy Faulk, Brook’s mother, is also a founding member.
“I’m really looking forward to the clothing sale next week,” said Carolyn Grimes, career management director. “I think this will give our students an awesome chance to stock up on professional attire at reasonable prices to help get them career-ready.”
Grimes approached the girls about possibly helping the school with a clothing event as Faulk and Vecchio are in her Career Preparation class.
The class is one of the last classes students take at OVCT, which helps the soon-to-be graduates with their resumes, interviewing skills, job search, and post collegiate life. In addition to learning these skills, it’s important for the students to look professional as they go to interviews.
“Feeling confident about projecting a professional image is an important part of a successful career strategy,” Grimes said.
The clothing sale will take place January 16 and 17 in Room 206 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students are welcome to come browse and choose any articles of clothing they wish to purchase.
